Each ability check rolled may or may not have a modifier attached to it depending on the difficulty of the check. Depending on what the actual stat is will determine what bonus or penalty that check may get as well. All checks are rolled on a d20 dice. Depending on the attribute rolled under, the character may not exceed that attributes level. (once again - example: a character has a 17 Wisdom and rolls for an animal check. The character has no additional proficiencies in animal handling so the roll would be for a flat 17. Once the 20 sided is rolled, if the roll is 1-17 the roll stands, but if the roll exceeds 17 (without any bonuses, the roll must be rerolled).

For every ability check, the GM decides which of the six Abilities is relevant to the task at hand and the difficulty of the task, represented by a Difficulty Class. The more difficult a task, the higher its DC. The Typical Difficulty Classes table shows the most Common DCs.

DIFFICULTY DC
Easy 5
Medium 10
Hard 15
Very hard 20
Nearly impossible 25

GROUP CHECKS
When a number of individuals are trying to accomplish something as a group, the Dungeon Master might ask for a group ability check. In such a situation.
To make a group ability check, everyone in the group makes the ability check. If at least half the group succeeds, the whole group succeeds. Otherwise, the group fails. The check may not be attempted again if a group check ends with failure.

Looking For More Players!
We are looking for another player (maybe two - we don't want the group to be too large where it's hard to manage) more players that would like to play 1st edition Dungeons & Dragons (with a shit ton of house rules, basically making this a new set of rules for players) in the setting of Middle-Earth that will be "dedicated" players.

We have had a rough run here recently not being able to hold onto players due to real life issues. We will be taking the AiMe rules and converting them over to 1st edition rules, keeping "some" 5th edition rules and making them house rules.

If you think you would like to join us, please take a look at this link and see what you think. The requirements might seem steep but once you read them you will understand the reasons behind these requests.

If you're interested, send us a message by copying the following email and send us an email to jamesfullard@hotmail.com. Enjoy your visit!

Greetings everyone. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. This blog will cover the Saturday Knight's group and its adventures within the Middle-Earth setting. We will be using 1st edition rules as our primary core rules with Unearthed Arcana as the secondary rules. Mind you we will have many homebrew rules with the conversion from AiMe to classic 1st edition.

This blog is in it's beginning stages and will take time before it can be fleshed out into something worth reading, but given time this place should be packed full of information concerning our Middle-Earth campaign adventures.

Our adventures journals will be posted here. All of our Twitch stream sessions and Youtube uploads will be posted here as well. We hope you enjoy your stay and please subscribe and follow to all or of our multi media locations.

The admin for this blog is James Fullard who is also the Loremaster for this group.
